reflective backing?

Post by Bonnie Rubinstein »

Any suggestions on how to apply a reflective backing or coating to flat fused glass?

Thank you.

Rust-Oleum makes a spray paint for this. It gets applied to the back, after firing. Also needs a clear coat after the reflective finish is applied. Read and follow the directions. It doesn't give a mirror-like finish but it does reflect. It also seems to highlight every little imperfection in the glass.

Terrific, thanks.
Do you think if I apply an adhesive to that final clear coat( to apply glass to another surface), it will not disturb the coatings?

If the adhesive will stick to a painted surface it might be OK. But if the adhesive instructions say to remove any paint, then it probably won't work.

Bonnie, depending where you live there might be a company in town that does silvering (mirror finish on glass), if you want a mirror-type reflection. There was a company in Vancouver,BC, Fish bros., I think, that would silver your glass for you. Good luck
