How well has the gas shock lifters on clamshell held up? Has anyone had problems with them? Curious.... admirer of the clamshell design.
Also, very tired of heavy lids that have cranky hinges.
My next kiln will have a user friendly system for sure.

Mine is about 8 months old. No problem. Brock
My memory is so good, I can't remember the last time I forgot something . . .

You can always set up a counter weight with pulleys. Just make sure that it still weighs less than the lid so the lid stays down when you want it to.
