Ques on corroded stainless steel mold

Post by RandiC »

Hi - I am finally getting back to kilning after a 20 year hiatus!! So my question deals with a stainless steel flower former (which the glass drapers over). It has corroded after sitting in the garage for 20+ years. Should this concern me? I would plan to use kiln wash on the mold, but didn't know if there was anything else I should do. whether sanding it would only worsen the problem. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi RandiC,

Your question peaked my curiosity as I have a corroded pendant chain which I believe to be a SS.

Here's what I found:

Hope that helps.
