It's only going to get worse, much of it attributable to the updraft caused by the fossil-fuel loving big vacuum at the top.

The Latrobe Valley coal mines and power stations are 1 hour west up the highway. A very depressing sight and example of greed over sensible science. Last years big bushfire were 1 hour east up the highway and the devastation is more or less permanent. It's heartbreaking to see and to see the ignorance of the people around. What to do about it is a huge question.

The solution should be simple: elect a federal government that acknowledges the need for a rapid transition to renewable energy. The states are doing their best despite the roadblocks and diversions caused by the deliberate obfuscation, lack of funding and inaction at the top. What's more difficult to change is the lack of critical thinking skills among a segment of the voting population who believes all it is told by the print media monopoly held by one person.

Before everyone goes off on a tangent to reduce energy usage in an effort to halt natural climate change, give your head a shake.
Man is not the driver of all the variations in climate and nor is carbon.

Take a look at this site for a logical explanation of it all.
Perhaps Australia, being close to the source of El Nino in the Pacific Ocean could investigate and tell the world the truth about climate change, it is geothermal energy flows.

Off topic so maybe I shouldn't reply, but some things can't be left unchallenged.
Yes Kevin, Australia has had a lot of top scientists working on it for many years. Their research from tree rings down to a million years of ice core reading in the Antartic show precisely when, at the start of coal burning industrial age, that carbon emissions and climate change started to converge. They have measured carbon output from coal powered power plants, vehicle emissions and flatulent livestock. They have measured temperature over land and sea, sea level rises, rainfall and drought patterns over centuries. They have sent balloons and equipment into the highest levels above earth to collect data relating to temperature and gas concentrations. They have access to some of the best computers in the world to collate and model their findings. We also have a politician who on national TV said that NASSA, who've just put a space ship on Mars, print their climate charts upside down.
