Havin' fun with pot melts

I've been playing again and am pretty happy with these pot melts. They measure 18" and are about as big as I can go given my kiln size; guess it's time to buy another one.

Sorry you can't read the description cards. You'll just have to guess at how much I sell these things for.

Anyway, I rely on you folks for critique, but please be gentle.

These are terrific! Gives us newbies something to aspire to. I've been wanting to try a pot melt, but I have so many other things I want to try to in my little kiln, too!

Those are extrodinary, absolutely beautiful. I wish I knew the the technique, if you'd like to share I'd love to try one my self. I have a large kiln that could handle it.
Excellent job.

VERY nice work. I like those stands...

I second the motion for close ups. Also, is that a square on the bottom there?? OOHH... I'd like to see that one as well...

I see a girl in the orange one, visible from about the waist up. She is wearing a blue shirt and has red hair and her face is upturned and slightly cocked to her left.........anybody else see her.......or am I having a flashback.

Really cool work!

For those kind souls who asked for a detail shot, here it is.

Something in Keith Cummings book got me going on these some time back but I had to be away from them for awhile. Had time to play and it's a good thing. Our season is on the horrizon and I've recieved requests from a couple of galleries. Just now the showroom is pretty full of these things, but that's going to change.

Thanks for the nice comments.

The Stands

Sorry, I forgot to say that the stands are from Dick Kolpak and can be seen at http://www.ironwoodmetal.com

He makes each one to order. You need to decide which of his you like and tell him the exact size as well as the thickness. Takes about a week but his work is excellent everytime. I have a bunch of his and plan to buy more as I need them.

I love your pot melts - especially the orange one. I, too, was interested in the stands. Thanks for sharing. The double border definitely gives them distinctiveness & elegance. Glad the galleries are paying attention!

Beautiful, Jerry. No muddy interactions, just strong color. Bet that took some testing! They look like planetary images from space, or filtered images of the sun.
Nice work.

Those are about as cool as it gets! Very molten, very suggestive of both far off suns and hot places and our own planet core. The colors and the swirls are very evocotive. And of course, nice glass, nicely edged and nicely 'framed'. A total presentation.
