casting glass

Post by Dick »

So, what are you all casting with now, and what are good suppliers? Some of mine have dried up or downsized since losing Uroboros and Spectrum.

I always used Spectrum Studio Nuggets and still have a back supply. Oceanside has evidently started producing nuggets since they are listed at Delphi. They are however more expensive than the Spectrum nuggets that I purchased a few years ago. When I bought nuggets a few years ago, they cost about a dollar a pound. Delphi has them listed for about $90.00 for fifty pounds or about $1.80 a pound before shipping costs.

I just checked with Olympic Color (where I got my nuggets a few years ago) and their price for a 50# bag is $62.50. That is not a huge price increase. The trick is in avoiding the freight charges if possible.

So, just FYI Oceanside only carries 96 and no billets rocks or plates. Only nuggets or crushed cullet. Anyone buying billets plates or rocks anywhere besides bullseye? Will be buying BE billets, but looking for options.
