I have just received an application to sell my work through the Craftworkerscatalog.com. A published catalog who sells your work by printing the pictures of your work on their catalog and also through their website. The catalog is for 6 months starting in the month of September, they also take the pictures of your work if you do not have professional pictures at the moment,. They take a 17% commisssion of your sales only. And you buy a spot on their catalog for 249.00 for a 1/4 of a page. They also give you a rebate check of 10% of your catalog net sales to help you with your shipping cost.
Steve Powers&Co. is the publisher and owner.
The question is: Has anybody ever heard of this catalog?
Has anyone done good business this way?
I would like to find out if it is worth it before I go for it.
By the way I heard from them through the Crat Report Magazine.
Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks
Isabella

Steve Powers is a show promoter who does shows out here on the left coast (CA, Nevada..). I've only done one of his shows which was here in San Jose some years ago. The attendance was so poor that he didn't try doing it again after the first year.

I've been getting these mailings about this catalog from him for a while now. I'd suggest that you contact the artists shown in the catalog and see if they did the first one and if it resulted in any sales for them. You might also want to post this question on the TCR board now that it's back and see if you get a response.

The price points for items shown as samples from the catalog were low. The most expensive item shown was $169. The others shown were all under $40, including blown glass pieces.

These examples lead me to believe he's going after a low-end market with his catalog. If your work is high end, it might not be a good fit.

Good luck and if you learn anything, please pass it along.
