Laying fiber paper down

Post by maggie may »

Hi,
Does anyone know if fiber paper can be pieced together on the kiln shelf and then have the glass laid on top? The pieces of fiber paper are pretty big. What will happen if the glass is laid over the spot where the papers meet?
any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
marilyn

You will get a line. However, you can sprinkle dry kiln wash over the fiber paper and then smooth it out with your hand. The kiln wash will fill in the cracks. It will also leave a very smooth surface. The problem is that if the kiln wash isn’t perfectly smooth, any lines, ridges or uneven surface will show. Which is what you are trying to get rid of. I would just save the smaller pieces of paper for smaller projects.
