Hi
Could someone please help me. I need to know if the alumina hydrate one uses for kiln wash is calcined or not calcined. I have discovered that the calcined is like talc whereas the ordinary alumina that I can get here is like fine salt which I find gives too much texture to the finished article
Thank you
Ian

differences in alumina hydrate
I think that calcined alumina hydrate is when the raw mineral is crushed and then heated up in a furnace. It is then run through a crushing mill again and maybe this is how they get it finer. I would just like to know which one is used in kiln wash.
I was hoping that maybe Mr Blanthorn would know
