combing problem

Post by Linda Hassur »

I watched Patty Gray's demo of how she does her combing. I made combing tools according to her instruction. I'm having problems inthat they almost always stick on the lst pull and they bend as they aren't sturdy enough. I'm taking the glass to 1700. Any suggestions on tools used to pull the molten glass? Thanks Linda

Patty's small combing tools are 316 stainless steel and 1/8" diameter. Her large combing tools are 3/16" diameter. If the diameter is too small, they will heat up quickly and stick to the glass. Increase the diameter of the stainless steel, and that should help. The 316 stainless rod is available from http://www.mcmaster.com
