Thanks for your thorough response, Joseph! Quite helpful.

To answer your question, the enamels in question are Fusemaster high-fire opaques. I used to only prefire them to 1100, as I would do with glass stainers colors and low-fire enamels, but at that temp they're not fully baked and when capped and fused the images smear.
