Rosanna et al,
I just priced a 50 lb bag of alumina hydrate at $67.50 at a local pottery supply. What are you paying for it?

In Georgetown TX at the glass shop (I forget the name), you can get some alumina hydrate that is very finely ground. It makes a really nice kiln wash. They are selling a kiln wash with this alumina. The alumina hydrate at the pottery supply is usually quite a bit coarser grade.haleybach wrote:Was just looking today, I've never bought it, but my local ceramic supply has it at $51.35 for 50#

$63.50 for a $50 pound bag at Seattle Pottery, where I get most of my refractory stuff mixed. (They'll do custom mixing and bagging for you, and they also deliver up to a full pallet's worth for a minimal fee.)
