Hi, Does anyone know a good place to purchase gold leaf for fusing? I have been told that the higher the K the better the color. Also does anyone know of any other color of leaf that can be used?
Thank you

You can use any of the golds from 16K on up, but the 23K gives a better "gold" color. White gold leaf works and so does champagne gold. Silver leaf will sometimes burn out, or will give silver stain (turning clear glass yellow) and copper leaf turns blue and produces massive quantities of tiny bubbles. All of the leaf has to be bunched up or overlaid two or three layers to get some density to the color. Leaf tends to become wispy or transparent at the edges.

About the best price for gold leaf (not foil) that I found recently on the web is MisterArt.com
http://www.misterart.com/store/view.cfm ... &store=003
You want "surfece leaf" not patent leaf. Patent leaf is is bonded to a sheet of paper and surfece leaf is loose between layers of paper.
If you buy from Misterart just specify the cheapest shipping method. They tell you it will be 10-15 days but I ordered mine the day before Christmas and had it the Saturday after by first class mail.
Mister art also sells variegated red, blue and green copper leaf.

For gold and silver foil try
http://thompsonenamel.com/products/supp ... rials2.htm
Their SF-2 silver foil works, I haven't tried anything else they offer.
Olympic Color sells foil and leaf too. Haven't ever tried any of their products.

Ron,
Are these the variegated red, blue & green you mentioned?
http://www.misterart.com/store/view.cfm ... up_id=7968
I thought Mona Lisa products wouldn't survive fusing?
Thanks!

Gold Leaf for Fusing
Thank you. I guess I will have to try some and experiment to get the colors I want. I had some "gold leaf" that I had purchased at a craft fair, Amy's I believe it was called and it burnt off in the firing.
