Renato Foti of Kitchener Ontario won the Fused Category and..... drum roll please... Tony Serviente won for lamps. Great news Tony!

Can someone explain to me the difference between flat glass and fused glass?

The Rosen Group (who hands out the Niche awards) determined the categories. If you fuse a flat piece and put it in a stand, you decide if you want to compete in flat or fused.
Generally, the flat category is for stained glass.
