using water pump with MK 100--or just a hose?

I searched to archives and did find some information from 2004 with regard to using the submersible pump that comes with the MK 100. It seems the consensus is to put it in a bucket of water and have the bucket raised to just below saw level. Does this sound like the best way to utilize the pump?

Since I have to roll the saw outside to utilize it, I was wondering if just rigging up a hose to drip on the blade would be okay to do. In a course at Wheaton Arts they had their MK 100 set up this way--it created a mess but it seemed to work.

I have my saw attached to a 1/4" water line that they use to bring water to your fridge. Brings plenty of water and you never have to mess around with the useless pumps. The pumps may be sufficient to cut ceramic tiles, but for glass I find the more water the better.

i went to lowes and got a fountain pump that ran about $50 or so, one of the high powered pumps, put that in a bucket with clean water from a hose feeding into the blade and it's fine. i do a lot of production cutting and have no problem.

I've used a Harbor Freight tile saw ($199 on sale) for years with a $10 pump I also got at HF. Works great! I also use their diamond blade ($30) which also works great. So for $240 I've got a glass saw system that I am very pleased with.

I use loclines on either side of the blade, hooked up to a garden hose. A pump came with my saw too, but didn't deliver nearly enough water and frequently clogged. If you scroll down to the bottom of this post on my blog, you'll see a pic of my setup.

I have my saw on a rolling platform so it can be pushe out to the middle of the garage when I need it. I use two 5 gallon buckets of water with the pump in one. When the water gets low, I simply move the pump to the other bucket, put the empty bucket under the drain spout, pull out the plug and drain some of the water. It works fine this way, and I haven't had any problems. Good luck.
