I thought I would share what I was up to at my Uroboros Residency in Portland. It was truly wonderful and met some wonderful artists , and of course the owners and Kat and Bill and all the staff are totally super. Carol Carson and I finally met and we laughed so hard because we both thought we already new each other , and of course Raphael and many other great artists. Walter Gordinier was so supportive as well, and we had some great conversations. It was a great experience. This piece is one of the smaller ones I created. Lots of sliced color bars. Not a great photo but at least an idea of what I was doing. 3 panels all span 8 feet , and are connected by a horizon line. Fun movement in the sky too. This piece is 27 inchs by 27 inchs by 1 inchs

Re: Uroboros Residency
Thanks so much Shawn, I wish I lived closer to Victoria , B.C. and we could go for a walk on the boardwalk as I miss the ocean so very much. I hear you are visiting there. Perhaps a few other artists on the island could send you a private PM and hook up with you. When I get some nice professional pics done , I will try posting a few. I really enjoyed creating the blue color bars and creating holes in the set up so the air bubble would draw up and pull the color with it, and when sliced, it gives lovely movement to the sky. Also played with alot of reactive red opals as well. I love the color you get when sliced through the two adjoining colors.

I know we lost alot of our early posts here on warmglass so for some that did not see alot of all our discussions and sharing, this one comes to mind in helping to show how creative we can get with Color Bars . Thankyou Sue and Bob for your kind words. I LOVE creating with color bars , and can design in my head how I want the color bars to flow and melt to create the color palette I want. Anyways, I think Rick Wilton is going to post a pic of the close-up of the sky as these pics are NOT GOOD at all. AND this old computer cannot even attach things anymore.
BUT I love creating with color bars and the painterly quality you can get. When the 3 panels are side by side it is quite nice. My husband was head of search and rescue for many years in Jasper National Park, and we did alot of horseback riding all summer long to get to our cabins in the back country, so you have many hours to reflect on the beauty around you and the rugged dynamic mountain environment from the back of a horse.

Re: Uroboros Residency
Hi Havi, have not talked to you for some time now. Have been away in the U.S.A. creating and enjoying Uroboros Glass Company so much. The last one is a corner of the middle Cast Piece . It is the 27 inch by 27 inch by 1 inch. I had alot of fun creating the color bars and then re-investing into the cast panels.

Re: Uroboros Residency
I thought it might be interesting for some to see the process in creating the color bars since we lost a bunch of older posts on how to create. Hope it might help a few artists to create with movement and fun.

Re: Uroboros Residency
Thankyou sooooo very kindly. I love to create large moving color bars and then try to use them to almost paint with glass. I do want to control the sky just alittle more , mind you we are in for the wildest thunder storms here in B.C. in along time so perhaps I should just let the glass speak. Leslie

Re: Uroboros Residency
I created a birds nest and worked with a good friend to make a metal birds nest base for the piece. The reactive quality looks as if the birds have lived in the nest for along time.

Nicely lit. I've been trying to come up with lighting ideas for a show of transparent work. I'd love to see them finished. They look great.

Re: Uroboros Residency
Thanks so much Oritt and Raphael. Wish so badly I could have waited 2 hours longer until you where able to make it to Uroboros Raf, so you could have seen them in person, but trying to get all the way back to Canada in Rush Hour Traffic through Seattle and past was already a difficult day, and to try to hit the border before the brokerage closed was a real race. .
I found some wonderful long thin light fixtures that are made to sit on the sill behind a glass pieces at the hardware store of all places. They also all connect together if you want to make as long or short as you want . It lights up the wall softly in behind so that it is soft lighting.
