For the past nine month I have been having the priviledge of working with a group of Maui artists in preparation of an invitational show at the end of this year themed 'Color, Space & Light'. Most of them are accomplished painters but there is a sprinkling of other mediums represented. We have also been fortunate enough to have Richard Nelson, who studied with Josef Albers at Yale, was chairman of the Punahou Art Department for 22 years and developed the Tri-hue watercolor technique, lead our group exploration. Getting together with this group about every 6-8 weeks has been a wonderful, exciting and challenging experience for me as I try to translate some of the themes, specially around color interaction, vanishing boundaries and halations, into my own work with glass.
For those of you interested, Dick Nelson has some videos posted on Vimeo dealing with color interaction: http://vimeo.com/user6812595/videos
There are also some informative class handouts posted on his website: http://dimensionsofcolor.com/about.html
Maybe some of you will enjoy.

Karuna

Re: Color theory and interaction
Albers and his wife did quite a lot of stained glass when they were at Black Mountain in N.C. I have one of their books that shows a lot of their glass. It dealt with color and basic rectilinear shapes.
