Kiln-acrylic paints-fire brick-devit

I ran across a discussion the other day about someone who has been firing with acrylic paints in their kiln for some time and now gets devit on much of their system 96 glass. I am wondering if it is possible to ruin your kiln brick or elements in some way with acrylic paints or something unusual like that which might cause a release of gasses that would cause devit in subsequent firings. My thought is if your kiln has been vented the answer would be no but I am not sure. This is just something that has my curiousity piqued!
