Best saw for cutting glass

Post by Sobrien »

I'm new to glass and wanted to find out what saw would be best for cutting glass after it has been fused. Thanks in advance.

I don't think there is a definitive answer. I used a QEP saw with a $20.00 tile blade with great results.
Frankly, IMO, annealing is of the most importance in this issue.

Annealing and a good blade. I have a cheap, nasty saw but a great blade, cuts beautifully. A great saw with a cheap, nasty blade is all but worthless.

No idea what the saw is, just that I bought it maybe 12 years ago for under $200 on eBay, it most likely comes from China, uses 10-inch blades and is orange in spots, red in others. The blade I chose is a Result blade, bought it from HIS and love it. There are other great blades, too, just depends on what you want to do with them. I needed to cut very thin with little waste.

(You can see a picture of saw and blade at http://www.morganica.com/bloggery/2012/ ... lass-saws/ and also some info on the blades, techniques and such).

I bought a cheap wet tile saw at Home Depot for about $89.00. Then I ordered a good diamond blade for about $60.00. Works great.
