Read some House and Home design mags, like Verandah, Elle Decor, House and Home, etc. The combination of colours and patterns use in carpets, cushions, and other accessories often give me some ideas.

visit museums
go to library and browse
ditto online
give up on the directions that have you stuck, at least temporarily.

get in the car. no radio, no i pod, no gps. nothing but you and the car.(camera and or sketch pad ok) drive aimlessly for a half hour or so untill you see something interesting.interact with the interesting thing. repeat as needed. take it from there. i like to pack a snack and just go and see. the quiet driving really opens up my mind. i also find that doing all necessary driving with quiet in the car really helps with creativity if i direct my mind that way. r.

Keep an art journal beside your bed. Fill it with thoughts, sketches, feelings, dreams. When you feel uninspired, look at what you've written and drawn.

Or, go drinking. Or get a new lover. Or both.
