copper tube

Post by Paul Schulz »

hi guys,, can someone tell me if i can use copper pipe as a mould for laying glass over, for glass weaving . i realize i'll have to use kiln paper or kiln wash , but am not sure if the pipe will distort too much. would only be taking the temp to 700c and as copper melds at 1085c it should be OK

many thanks paul

The copper will anneal and go dead soft around 1000 F and will bend easily if it is small. That may or may not be a problem, just wanted you to be aware of it.

It will also spall like crazy and can stain your shelf. It also might cause reactive glasses to react. R.
