Re: New Slump MOLD
different panels that go together . AND others in various stages of creation. Lots of frit and 7 layers of glass . I had to drive for 3 hours in snow storm to fire these too!!! so it was a trick to have the whole million pieces NOT slide around. I love lepages white glue. Just a tiny dab on outer edge of each piece holds it all in place.
BUT over a few bumps in the road I was definately doing this

Re: New Slump MOLD
I have used the slump mold again but with a slight different shape as the client only wanted it slumped 4 inchs deep instead of 8 inchs deep. I carved a piece of fiber board and put it in the bottom of the mold with Vent holes and it really slumped nicely. I am very glad the mold is still going strong. This piece is 25 inchs by 19 inchs x 4 inchs deep.

Re: New Slump MOLD
Thanks Sue and Orritlandau,
The clients want 3 that will span the length of their lovely large beautiful wood table. (they felt lower was better for them with more flat area due to to the length of each piece.) Now the trick will be to get each one EXACTLY the same slump. I took alot of notes so hopefully the next will follow the same schedule nicely. Les

Sorry for this not great photo but Rick Wilton might appreciate this as he helped me grind it. Thanks again Rick. The base is simple and nice. And thanks Tammy for your kind words. The piece is called "GLACIERS"

Hi Les,
Beautiful! Is the metal bar on top of the glass to hold it to the base, or is it through the glass creating sections? Thanks.

Re: New Slump MOLD
Through the glass ,making 2 sections that sit on two long full length metal square lengths that span the whole piece. (which is really nice for transport tooo!) as the piece comes apart and is smaller for shipment. Les

Goodness I pray for power and enough of this 29 Below C. weather we are having even though it is bright and sunny BUT definately freezes the eyelashs and spoils one make up .

Re: New Slump MOLD
Les,
I just saw this.
I like it a lot.
One of the things I like about it is, that it is not a symmetrical design.
The final object is of course symmetric, but the composition is much more interesting IMHO, BECAUSE of its non-symmetrical character.
This is kind of daring, and I congratulate you for having the courage to work like this
I see on this thread more pieces like this and enjoy them a lot.
Go for the abstract Lady, you do it well!
Keep up the good work, I enjoy it, gives me real pleasure.

To me,
It is not the mold that makes it so beautiful [even though the mold is quite nice and interesting, reminds me of Moje's molds]]
But the COMPOSITION!!!!

Re: New Slump MOLD
Havi, coming from you that is special for sure. I remember our talks together many years ago in Portland , and have never forgot all the suggestions you gave me!!! I pray to meet you again at some point and share stories of our journeys in Glass as we both were so passionate in our discussions.

Re: New Slump MOLD
Here is number 2 of 3 vessels that all go together. I am happy with the colours. I am also full of inspiration after spending a 60th birthday with my twin at Terminal City Co-op in Vancouver , B.C. where (I watched ) I was my twins assistant
on the flame working torch while she made me beads for my birthday present. (all I did was cut up the gorgeous silver ) What an amazing trip it was and what a wonderful co-operative with wonderful artists who work tirelessly for the betterment of all other glass artists who are now members. How I wish I lived in Vancouver or Portland. I so missed getting all the way to Portland BUT next trip I hope. I flew as all roads where closed anyways, and could not have made it to Portland even if I wanted to .
Les (now off to fire number 3 of the vessels)
