New Zealand trip
Some good friends are traveling from the US to New Zealand for a month and would love to visit glass studios--particularly cast and thick glass artists. If you are open to visitors, please send me your websites (via PM is fine) so I can forward. Thanks!

Re: New Zealand trip
As a kiwi living in Australia I hope you are getting some PM responses.
If you have no responses try seeing whether any of the Ranamok Prize NZ based artists are contactable.

Good place to start. You might check and see if Ann Robinson is available. I don't know the lady personally but I'm a long-time admirer of her work. http://www.annrobinson.co.nz/

Re: New Zealand trip
Hi there, not sure if you made contact with any glass artists in NZ or whether in fact, you have been to NZ and back in the US.
In Auckland, there are many artists studios, blown and cast, which include Ron Reichs, Ann Robinson, Christine Cathie, Evelyn Dunstan and there is an NZSAG site as well, www.nzsag.co.nz on web or facebook.
Whanganui also have internationally renowned artists like Claudia Borella, Carmen Simmonds, Raewyn Roberts, Emma Camden, David Murray, etc etc. however, visits to artists studio are normally made by appointment and for contact information, to to www.nzsag.co.nz.
Good luck but if you have been and gone, I hope you got to meet a lot of people in the glass world in New Zealand.
Susan

Re: New Zealand trip
If I were going, the first place I'd visit would be Gaffer Glass!
Re: New Zealand trip
In 1995 for our 25th Anniversary we went to AU and NZ. Definitely had one great time. It was before I was interested in warm glass. I did etching, but the internet wasn't quite as sophisticated… anyway, just wanted to say we did BnB's the whole time and had the best experiences ever. The people we stayed with were wonderful from a servana (farm raised deer) to a bee farm to a manchester shop owner (linens). I hope your friend has time to take time. We were gone 6 weeks and I'd do it again in a heart beat. The only poor thing that happened in my husband's eyes was there was only cricket on tv… on all the channels and he's a golf, football, basketball and baseball type guy, so he had more time for me, and that was fine with me. <grin> I have nothing but good memories of our travels and people we met. Hope they 'ave many a 'gd dae.

if you go to the NZ Society of Artists in Glass Inc website, there are artists listed in various cities. Auckland has some major internationally renowned artists as well as Wanganui.
Gaffer Glass is in Auckland where the majority of us reside!
Good luck to your friends and their travels to our fair lands.
