Kiln carving question

Post by peterbr »

Hello all,

Question. Is it better to pre fire a blank ie 2 3mm clears together first before setting it on the fibre paper or can the the two blanks be fired over the paper in one step? Also, does anyone have a fool proof schedule for both 96 and bullseye getting fine details?

Thanks in advance,

Peter

I kiln carve float. My advice would be to do a single firing with a good bubble squeeze. Simply fire hot enough to get the edge you like, and the kiln carving will take care of itself.

When I kilncarve float, I prefer to fire lower and slower than most others.
