I purchased a 15" x12" x 2.5" medium wave mold. I have a piece that has the rounded edges from a full fuse.
Will the curvature of the slump allow the piece to stand on edge or will I need to cold work the edges?
Anyone have experience with this type of mold?
Thank you,
Vernelle

Re: Wave mold
If the edge is straight to begin with (and squared), and you place it properly (completely straight/squared) on the mold, it will stand on its own. It will, however, be more stable if you coldwork the edge flat.

Agree with Dana. I always square mine off to get the additional stability. I would only add that a lap grinder makes quick and easy work of squaring off that edge. Doing it by hand might entail an awful lot of labor ...

Re: Wave mold
I use my glass tile saw to get a nice straight edge. Easy!

Thank you all for your answers. I teach fusing at a not-for-profit glass school here in Fort Worth and can use their equipment......lap grinder, saw, wet belt sander.... So I will be cold working the piece.
Thanks again for your help,

Re: Wave mold
Sawing is much easier before the slump, and when I get a nice, flat edge, I do not do any coldworking.
