Working With Others
Sometimes it is a refreshing and wonderful experience to work with another artist and try to create pieces in their colour pallet that makes you step out of your comfort zone. This show was a journey filled with inspiration and true joy working in colours that are usually not in my pieces. It was so fun to create a room that hopefully the client feels as if they are blown around the room !

The work and presentation is beautiful! Do you mind if I ask how you hang the wall pieces? They seem to be offset from the wall a bit. I'm looking for a nice, economical way to hang transparent glass panels for display. Thanks.

A very dear friend of ours from high school is a photographer and he was in Zion and took the canyon shots and we blew them up on canvas . So the wall hangings are photographs! BUT Bullseye Glass Company have some excellent suggestions for hanging glass! Perhaps check out there site . They are truly great to use for wall pieces. Les

The show was called " STRIATION / COLLABORATION " and I had the honor to work with many different artists in metal and wood and flame working and blowing and stone ( black Alabaster from our own Gypsum mine here) . It was a year I will never forget and full of wonderful experiences and team work. Les

Re: Working With Others
Congratulations Les... Your work in this show is, as always, "top drawer". It is like a gift when you find other artists to work with and share your passions. To have the collaboration culminate in a quality gallery show is very rewarding! Congrats also for the great coverage in "Glass Art" mag... You and your Twin Visions sister are an inspiration on this board and to many other artists I'm sure. I have always appreciated your sharing attitude.
Best of luck on your future endeavors.
Don

Re: Working With Others
Dear Don, your words have touched my heart. I love working with others and creating a space that is unique and hopefully the work is innovative and different. The Black Alabaster was probably my most exciting new element I have worked with and have fallen in love with the ability to carve, cut, polish and nestle glass vessels into the stone to create a more substantial piece. It is a delicious stone! black with striations all through it and it goes on my glass flat lap believe it or not. Then lots of hand polishing and cutting and chipping.
The show was actually in a beautiful gallery setting in our own community of Invermere, B. C. which was special as many local people do not know what I do. They just see me as the crazy lady cutting and polishing glass in my driveway . So to actually share the journey my twin and I have gone on for 30 years was so special. ( then many pieces will go to Canada House Gallery in Banff, Alberta, next week.) Canada House Gallery have supported me for 20 years now and is one of the most amazing gallery's anywhere. They love the idea that the Black Alabaster is from our local community as we are a mountain community and because my husband was head of Search and Rescue for Jasper National Park, the idea of stone touching his fingers has always been a part of our life together;r and to now be able to carve it instead of hang for your life from it is truly a new journey. Re: Working With Others
Had the most lovely visit from Anna Bilek at Passion For Glass in Calgary and we talked technical and enjoyed every minute of a walk about at the show. Her beautiful daughter and friend came along as well and it was wonderful talking to young ladies about glass .

I am NOT sure how to rotate this picture but here is the Black Alabaster and coral Orange colour bar vessel. I love Black Alabaster.
