Hello all,
I have bought some 3mm panels of a generic low iron float and I want to fuse, slump and decorate them using various enamels.
I'm not sure what temperatures to use.
Does the low iron mean it fires more like bullseye/system 96 or should I just treat it like firing greenish float?
(I know I can test but some starting points would save me a lot of test firings!)
I have attached a technical sheet for an alternative low iron glass called Starphire. I'm hoping someone could decipher the technical mumbo-jumbo.
Pete

Unfortunately, attachments must be jpg files. If the pdf is online, you can post a link to it. Or send it to me and I'll put it online for you.Peter Angel wrote:I'm trying to attach a pdf but it's not attaching
As for your original question, I would fire low iron float the same as regular float.

Re: Firing low iron (ultra clear) float
I generally anneal regular float at 1000 and I use 1030 for low iron.
PPG Starphire has a COE of 90, but is most certainly not compatible with Bullseye.
As to vitreous colors, you fire according to the colors, then anneal according to the base glass.
