Can I use hot glue in my kiln?

Post by Linda Jean »

I’m making some Christmas decorations with my grandchildren and we have glued glass strips together to make stars with hot glue. They aren’t great works of art so I’m not too concerned how they will look, just want them to hold together to get them into the kiln. My concern was that the glue residue may harm the elements on the kiln in some way. Just wanted to check before I fire them. Thought?

Yes, you can use hot glue, just don't overdo it.

Thanks Brad, what’s going to happen if you overdo it? Just concerned about the residue harming the kiln. Thanks. ☺️

There won't be any harm to the kiln. The worst thing that can happen is that you get little black carbon spots on the glass.
