What to use on a 3mm piece of base and 3mm dichro

Post by Karen Avery »

I am going to make a plate with a base piece of 3mm black glass and a layer of 3mm dichro down the middle. I was planning on putting a 3mm piece of clear class over it all but am afraid of the space that is between the top and bottom pieces (the base and the cap). What can I put on the black glass before firing so that it doesn't make a lot of bubbles? I am going to slump it after so need to do a full fuse. It is System 96.

Put the clear below the black, not on top.

If I put it under the black, the dichro won't have any protection on it. I guess I will have to do that though.

You can sift a very thin layer of clear powder (two grains thick at most) over the entire top of the piece.

Or use dichro on clear and fire upside down.
