Broken slumped bottle lamp shade

Post by Nancy D »

A fused, then slumped lamp shade made of the small perrier bottles came out of the kiln today split on opposing bottles.
Here is the firing schedule;
225dph to 600o-no hold, 300dph to 1200-held for 15 minutes.
The kiln was supposed to go up to 1325 and hold there some, but when I looked at the piece after the 1200 hold it had already split on opposite sides. I'm hoping to send a picture along, but in case it doesn't work.... the splits went from the middle of the the bottle tops down the middle about 3 or 4 inches.
What did I do wrong?
Thanks for your help in advance.

I'm going to try to one more time to get the photo to show up again..

I'm thinking the kiln went up too fast for the bottles which caused the splits.
Thanks, Nancy D.
