Grinder vs. Diamond Belt

Post by Paul Tarlow »

Will a 70 grit diamond belt will "eat" glass significantly faster than a typical Glastar-type grinder?

I grind lots of small pieces to shape and I'm looking to speed things up.

Thanks,
Paul

How small are your pieces Paul? A new 70 grit belt on your wet belt sander will eat more than glass if you're not careful - - watch your fingers if the pieces are really small.

Cabochon sized. We make LOTS of them.

Well, I'm not nearly as proficient with my wbs as Brock, not by a long shot, but grinding little-bitty pieces like that on the wbs seems like a scary proposition to me. Watch your pinkies.

We use a very rough diomond grinding wheel 30 / 40

Then a 40 / 50 for finer

Electro plated

We use a bed 2 grind on n tip it twisal the glass arround

Or we also ajust the height

We then get a multy beviled edge we then finish this off by hand then

Tumble finish em then polish up the one or 2 surfaces

Thats how we do the pebbles
