Hi KaCe, I received your PM, too, thank you. As for the broken nib, no clue as to its brand or other identifying info. I'd had it for years, probably since art school. It was a very plain nib that just worked beautifully. When it broke there were no retrievable pieces.
As for that pelican, I broke the next one, too but can't blame the kiln or controller for that. I had fired it on a rectangle of glass, intending to cut it to shape to suit after it was fired. (I know, I know.....won't do that again). It was very hot, it was late Friday afternoon, I was thinking about sitting on the verandah and looking down the valley with a cold sauv. blanc and I thought I'd just cut it to shape before quitting. Anyway after scoring one side, couldn't break it off with my fingers so I picked up running pliers instead of breaking pliers and you can guess what happened. After yet another painting and firing both pelicans are now in their panel and the wildlife protection authorities have left the premises.
I'll look for the Hiro that Valerie recommended, too. Jen
