i used a black base layer with red and gray frit on the design layer with some noodles and stringers too. when i opened the kiln only the stringers and noodles were visible. i used decent quantity of the frit. what happened?

Opas or cathedrals on which items? Was your base glass an opalescent and your frit a cathedral?.... you won't get very dramatic results that way... except for a disappearing act.
