The reliefs are beautiful. That's not cast right? It's done like the kiln forming technique you taught us isn't it?

Yeah, it looks to me like the animal series is slumped over some kind of template. Very crisp and detailed. Good technique. Brock

The relief in the plates was interesting. The more successful ones for me were the ones where the overall pattern was interesting enough to keep me looking and discovering the animal shapes. I like the play of positive and negative shapes, kind of like Escher in the feel and the adherance to the grid as his design statement...but the most interesting work I saw wasn't these dishes, but the sculptural pieces.
There is a relief piece of a dress. It's several panels that have a negative relief image of a dress that is fabulous and the other more traditional, contemporary sculptural pieces are really terrific.

Yeah, that's Karen LaMonte. There was a good article on her in Glass Art recently.

I agree Brock, there was one of her dresses at SOFA last year. They are huge, bigger than life size. Truly amazing to see in person.

Wow! I'm trying to figure out how he fits the blocks together in the geometric pieces. Looking at the edge the pattern goes the full depth so I don't think it's cut and piece. Any idea? Marc
