Brad's book as a couple of pages on pattern bars.
Also if you click "old archives" and type in "pattern bars" you will see a thread on pattern bars, cutting them, etc.
You might also want to check out the "gallery", if I remember correctly, there are a couple of outstanding pieces made with pattern bars.
