Cutting cast slabs straight

Does anyone know of a reliable method to cut large cast slabs staight? 1 to 4 inches thick, 3 to 7 feet long. I'm being asked to cut such slabs with a hand held diamond blade circular saw. THERE MUST BE A BETER WAY. I know about water jet cutting, but the high pricing for each cut makes me think that there may be a more pedestrian approach? Any experience out there to draw from?
best regards,

I would suggest going to a custom granite countertop place. They usually have a large table with a saw that travels across it that could possibly do the job for you. You may want to check the width of there blade to see how much you are going to loose in material but this may be the easiest and quickest way to get it done. I have seen the saw make cuts in 3/4 inch granite 8 feet long in less then 2 minutes. They can usually cut close to 6" thick pieces and quite wide. Tables are about 10' by 8'.
