new to fusing! can you use copper or brass in between glass' to form pockets (such as for flower holders and vases)? if so will it come out when finished? I have used brass wire (to leave in permantly,for hangers),and it seems to do just fine. any help is appreciated.

You can get them out again if you kiln wash them but you can also buy a variety of molds that are re-uable for quite a long time. Stainless steel molds are great. You can also use found things like cans, clay flower pots (unglazed) or make a form out of clay and then make a plaster (or other casting medium) mold.

You should test any found objects before trying to fire them with glass; you want to make sure they don't melt or deform under the kilns heat. If you use a flower pot you'll need to cover the hole in the bottom with fiber paper so the glass doesn't slump thru the hole. You can cover the whole thing with fiber paper or you can kiln wash it.

Go to any local restaurant supply shop and look for stainless things that have a good shape. A martini shaker is a great former for a vase.......
