Capping thinfire mark

Newbie alert! Two unweighted corners of thinfire curled onto black BE leaving lines and a bit of surface change. I searched the archives but could not find an answer to my question. Can I just cover the piece with clear and refire it? Or must I sandblast the surface first, then refire, then cap with clear? Or could I sandblast the surface and then just cap with clear? thanks in advance for all of your help.

Denise,
I think the answer lies in the size/importance of the piece. If it's a small piece of jewelry, just clean the surface well, cap it with clear, and fire. Not much lost if it doesn't come out perfectly clean.
If, however, it is a significant piece, either in size or cost of materials, or time used in making it, I would sandblst the surface marks, clean the piece thoroughly and refire to fire polish the surface.
Good luck!

I had the same thing happen to a piece of mine that was an important piece. I sandblasted with 120 SiC and it did not remove all of the scum/distortion on the surface. In looking back I should have tried using a surface grinder, in this case probably one of those diamond hand pads as a mechanical one would have been too aggressive.
