silicon grit question

when buying silicon grit that's for example 600 grit, is the non-graded 600 grit and higher (i.e. smaller), while the graded is 600 only?

Hi Barb... I don 't think there is any difference between Graded 220 Grit and simply 220 Grit (other than marketing) . Especially since the higher grit is more expensive. There is also things like 60/90 Non-Graded Grit wher they are jsut telling you the range. These folks

Barbara,
Even the graded grit covers a range... for example, almost all of the particles smaller than 400 grit pass through the 400 mesh grading screen, and almost all of the particles smaller than 600 grit pass through the 600 mesh screen. That means that what they sell as 600 grit is somewhere between 400 and 600 grit with some smaller particles thrown in for the ride. IOW, don't pay more for graded grit.
