Clarification of Firing Schedule for Combing

Hi!

I'm ready to start my first attempt at a combing, using instructions from Patty Gray's website. However, I don't understand the firing schedule, which she states as follows:

"300° for 45 minutes, 750° for 45 minutes, 1000° for 45 minutes, and I set the program for 1700° for 2 hours but I start combing at 1650°..."

"I set the anneal for 4 to 6 hours at 960° then set 2 hours at 850°. "

With my Bartlett controller, I need to enter first the total number of segments; then it prompts me to enter a ramp temperature, a target temperature, then a hold temperature.

Could someone please translate Patty's firing schedule into Bartlett? Thanks a bunch!

Cheers,
Suzan

Suzanne,

If you are using strips with no full-size base glass, you can go full (9999)to 1700, and an comb anywhere above 1650 with System 96, and it's closer to 1700 with BE.

But to translate from Patty's controller, I believe it works out to 350 dph to 300, 600 dph to 750, 350 dph to 1000, 9999 to 1700 with a 2 hour hold, 9999 to 960 with a 4 to 6 hour hold depending on the size of the piece followed by 50 dph to 850 then off. My multilingual capabilities are a little rusty, but I think that I can interpret and give you a much simpler program for the Bartlett controller.

Assuming a 12" square, single layer base glass, try
350 dph to 1000 no hold
450 dph to 1700 hold 60 minutes (to give you time to comb)
9999 to 960 hold 60 minutes
75 dph 750 no old
120 dph 450 no hold
off

I hope this helps

Tony
