Has anyone tried cutting 3/4" & 1" mullite rods with inexpensive wet tile cutters such as Harbor Freight, Lowes, etc.

They cut like butter with a wet saw. They also cut easily with a hacksaw, although you may get a little chipping.

They sell whole shelves as well as broken ones. I don't know about rods, I'm assuming you want to make dams? You can cut them out of kiln shelves. I think they do sell mullite rods, like you'd use for suspending elements too.

Thanks , I wil check them out. Actually I am just looking for some long ceramic rods to use in the glassblowing shop to wrap hot glass around. The ceramic material does not suck the heat out of the glass as quickly as metal ones do. I had not thought about mullite rods, caught my eye.
