Slumping

Post by Breta »

I am trying out a new mold, stainless steel, 7 inches deep, 12 inch diameter. The glass is 5 thicknesses approx 3/4 inch thick. Any suggestions for firing scheduals?

Slow: no more than 100dph to 1000F, hold for 1 hr, take another hour to get to 1240F and hold there 'til slumped (check visually). Let the kiln cool to 960 (I'm assuming Bullseye) and anneal at 960 for 4 hours. Take 2 hours to get to 700F and hold there for an hour. Cool no faster than 100dph to room temp. Works for me, in my fire brick kiln.
