When I've been in a hurry for my 2% solution I have filled a widemouth quart canning jar 2/3 full of the hottest water I could get from the tap and had a stirrer mounted in my Dremel grinder running in the water when I added my 20 grams of CMC powder to it. After stirring for a minute or so I placed the jar in the microwave and heated until it started to boil. I added the final 1/3 of hot water, capped and shook the jar. It was ready to use with no lumps within 20 minutes. Guess I'm just an impatient sort of guy.
