What brand would you recommend for airbrushing when fusing? I am new to this. I actually haven't worked much with my airbrush. What is mixed with the paint to use it in the airbrush?

I always recommend the Ferro Sunshine or Samba series of china paints. They can be airbrushed with any number of media. I simply water down my 1544 water miscable medium. This is not actually the best approach, but I have it, so it works for me. Ferro sells spray medium. It is actually a binder that is watered down considerably. I got a sample of it once but the shipping dept. packed it in a steel can and it corroded so badly that it looks like molasses. When I inquired about it I was told that it should have been sent in a plastic lined container.

The reason I like the Ferro enamels is that they come in a large palette of strong colors that are mostly mixable. I buy them direct from the manufacturer with no middle company markups. They have a $100 minimum order. The best deal by far is a sample kit for $200. Mediums are extra.

Sunshine series contains lead and cadmium, but release levels should be under federal guidlines for food contact. Samba is lead and cadmium free. Samba takes a bit more heat to mature. Both are designed as china paint, and are compatible with a wide range of glass expansions when applied as recommended.

Ferro. They are the lead and cadmium free series. They make hundreds of different kinds of enamels for a multitude of applications.

Palette 70 is also an interesting series of lead and cadmium bearing enamels that are not food compatible. Fantasie is a mica metallic series.

Then there are the Versicolor series's. I use the bending series for my lighting glass. Versicolor is a 15 color series that comes in various temperature ranges and expansions.

Actually Ferro just sold that division once again. I haven't spoken with anybody there lately to see if there are any changes, but I think it is supposed to be business as usual.

Directly from the manufacturer 800-245-4951 Ask for Wanda McDowell or anybody in customer service. Remember that the Sunshine series is china paint, not glass paint. They could get confused as they sell hundreds of different enamels for various purposes. Wanda is used to the people I refer to her LOL.
