Leveling kiln shelf

I'm going to put a kiln shelf on the floor of the kiln, so it is permissable to level that with a few pieces of thin tile shims? Or should I put the self up off the floor on the 1" supports that came with it, and then level those?

These are the kind of things I can't find in the books I have! Thanks again,

I would level it on the 1" supports. Brock
