I want to try combing glass in the kiln. What is the best material to make a combing rod or tool? What keeps the glass from sticking to the tool?

300 series stainless steel. Get a 3/16" or 1/4" rod, about 30" long and grind the tip down to a dull point. Bend the last 2 or 3 inches from the tip down, at an angle, perhaps 45 degrees. Put a handle on it, and comb away. Immerse in water between combs. You'll be an expert on your second comb. Brock

If you have Brad's book, turn to pages 80 and 81 for pictures on combing.

I've found out it's not quite as simple as it looks and sounds.

Practice. Practice. Practice.
