I truly love creating colour bars and this one has all my favorite colours in it. Opaline, French Vanilla, Dense White , Olive Smoke, Cornellian, Coral Sunset, Light amber and medium amber. AND some lovely Nougat rods and stringers. So I will have to waite now for 4 days to see how it turned out. I was hoping for 3 inchs thick BUT I think it is only 2 1/2 inch x 19 inchs x 9 inchs. I can hardly waite to slice into it.

As I looked at it hot and flowing, it WAS 2 1?2 inchs as the containment mold is 3 inchs tall. Looked so lovely I can hardly waite to get my saw out in a few days. Les

Just to make sure I understand - you take the volume of the space, and calculated the proper weight of the glass you needed to put in it.

You then took the different colors and frit and put them in, and there was a bit more that would fit so you have some on top. Am I right?

Was there any particular way you put the glass in the mold? I really like the color combination!

Well I have been creating this way for some time now and just know how much space is available and how to configure the set up that it WILL NOT over flow. For me it is a visual thing. I like to have the slightly taller sides of the mold so that it will for sure NOT over spill. The set up is different every time , depending on what I want the bars and slices to look like when it comes out. And it is how you slice the bar after wards that will determine my designing of the finished panel that these go back into. Frit looses 1/3 density so you KNOW that if you are at the hight of the mold walls that you will NOT spill over and then the top pieces are to push the glass around so that it gets movement. There is alot of stuff going on BELOW as well, and I controlled a few holes so that I will get some nice draw up of colour when the Bubbles rise to the top. . Perhaps it will make more sense once I have sliced up the large bar. Les

The colour bar has lovely flow and now is ready for me to get REALLY dirty and saw it up. Yeah!

That looks like some kind of candy! Would you post pictures when you slice it please?

Sorry these are not great photos but for now until I set them up in a design it is hard to see. It is better when fired also as the colour will come out much nicer. BUT alot of great mountians and forground to work with.

Perhaps the most difficult part is then trying to figure out how to put the color bar slices into a piece. Hmmm!
