Stainless steel draping mold question

Post by Sherry R »

Using a stainless steel mold, I draped a piece of glass over the mold. It draped great except when I took it out of the kiln, one edge of the glass had melted under the edge. The glass is loose on the mold, but it won't come off the mold. I've read about reheating the glass and then dropping it in cold water, but I believe the glass would crack. What are your suggestions?

Put it back in the kiln upside down. Heat slowly and just enough so the glass releases from the mold.

And DON'T put it in cold water. Yes, the glass will crack (if you mean heating it up and then putting it in water).
