bonding

Post by Linda Norris »

Does anyone have any advice about what type of glue to use to bond glass to an mdf wooden backing for framing? The piece I need to bond is about 12 x 10 x1 inches, so quite small but is pretty heavy, it probably weighs a couple of pounds. Transparency is not an issue as it is opaque on the base layer. I am thinking of using a heavy duty silicon like 'Stiks Like Sh•t' but am concerned it may not hold.

GE Silicone II.

Get a fresh tube, thoroughly clean both surfaces, apply, wait 24 hours to let it cure fully.

We have glass to wood pieces hung with silicone that were created over a decade ago and are still going strong.

Other premium brands of silicone will work well, too.

By the way, this is a good site for bonding questions: http://www.thistothat.com
