Browsing older posts?

Is there a way to browse the older posts without entering a specific topic? At the top and bottom of each page are boxes numbered 1 to 5 then a box for the last page, e.g 117. Is there a way to view intermediate pages, page 15, for example? Thanks, Jen

Yes, there is a way, but it takes a little understanding of how the urls for the board work.

Each forum has a number. The main "Techniques and Tools" forum, for example is forum 2. You can see this in the url to a particular forum which will contain a section labelled f=x, where x is the forum number. So, "f=2" in the url refers to the Techniques forum.

And each thread is numbered as well. Since there are 30 threads on each page, the 15th page of a particular forum will have threads numbering from 420 to 459. (15 pages times 30 threads = 460, which because the first thread is number 0 would be the first post on page 16!)

So the listings on the 15th page would start with thread 420, which is written "start=420".

Put the forum and the thread shortcuts together and you get "f=2&start=420" which is computer for second forum, start the listing with thread number 420.

Or, to put everything together, the url for the 15th page of the Techniques and Tools forum would be: http://www.warmglass.com/phpBB/viewforu ... &start=420

If all the math is too much, just change the number 420 to any number you want and the listing will start with the page that has that thread number.

One more thing to know -- the thread numbers are just for viewing purposes. Because of new threads being started, thread number 420 today may be a different thread number tomorrow.

Thanks for that detailed explanation, Brad. I'll have a little lie-down before I tackle it! Jen
